چکیده

The paper presents the Surface Constructor (SC) 3D kinematical modelling and simulation program, which is intended for the development of new types of complex contacting kinematical surfaces, especially gear surfaces. This innovative application is based on an original theory of the author, named the Reaching Model. The paper summarises the theory and introduces the structure and capabilities of the software. The versatility of SC, which origins from its inbuilt symbolic algebraic computation module, is presented through development and analysis of new gear types and by solution of manufacturing tasks of gearing elements, such as the calculation of a ZTA type worm gear. The power of SC is demonstrated through the determination of the grinding wheel for exact grinding of a spiroid worm and modelling of a double-modified ZTA type worm gearing, in addition to the simulation of an innovative new worm gearing type having localised bearing pattern without transmission error.

DeVore, R.A., B. Jawerth and B.J. Lucier, Surface compression, Computer Aided Geometric Design 9 (1992) 219-239. We propose wavelet decompositions as a technique for compressing the number of a control parameters of surfaces that arise in Computer-Aided Geometric Design. In addition, we give a specific numerical algorithm for surface compression based on wavelet decompositions of surfaces into ...

Curvature continuity between adjacent rational Bézier patches

Zheng, J., G Wang and Y. Liang, Curvature continuity between adjacent rational B&ier patches, Computer Aided Geometric Design 9 (1992) 321-335. This paper discusses the cutvature continuity between two adjacent rational BCzier surfaces which may be rectangular or triangular patches. The necessary and sufficient conditions are derived, and further, a series of simple sufficient conditions are de...

Computer algebra and geometry – some interactions

Algebraic curves and surfaces have been studied intensively in algebraic geometry for centuries. Thus, there exists a huge amount of theoretical knowledge about these geometric objects. Recently, algebraic curves and surfaces play an important and ever increasing rôle in computer aided geometric design, computer vision, computer aided manufacturing, coding theory, and cryptography, just to name...

Rational surfaces with linear normals and their convolutions with rational surfaces

It is shown that polynomial (or rational) parametric surfaces with a linear field of normal vectors are dual to graphs bivariate polynomials (or rational functions). We discuss the geometric properties of these surfaces. In particular, using the dual representation it is shown that the convolution with general rational surfaces yields again rational surfaces. Similar results hold in the case of...

Computing general geometric structures on surfaces using Ricci flow

Systematically generalizing planar geometric algorithms to manifold domains is of fundamental importance in computer aided design field. This paper proposes a novel theoretic framework, geometric structure, to conquer this problem. In order to discover the intrinsic geometric structures of general surfaces, we developed a theoretic rigorous and practical efficient method, Discrete Variational R...
